How can I make my back more flexible?
-
Particularly my lower back, for doing things like back bends?

Answer:
don't solely concentrate on sit-ups, like they person above said it will strengthen your core, but that will lead to muscle imbalance that will lead to horrendous posture and numerous joint problems. stretch lots, focussing on your lower back, try the stretch where you lie on your front and try to touch your feet to your head. i've been doing this for the past 6months for 30seconds each night, before i wasn't that flexible in my lower back, now i can get my feet to touch the floor like this... http://brucedaley.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/contortionist.jpg

Other answers
Do lots and lots of sit-ups, so that your abdominal muscles can become stronger than your back, and that will allow for more flexibility.
