What song to choreograph?

What indian/bollywood song(s) should I use to choreograph a group dance for my school's international night?

  • I need some semi-classical songs (like jiya jale or barso re...but I can't use them because people did those last year) and some upbeat hiphop type (like dhoom...or a mixed version of a song) *and please NO ENGLISH in any parts of the song...like dhoom again has cheesey english lyrics in it which basically ruins the song.

  • Answer:

i suggest 'dola re' from devdas, its a very good song to dance to, and its kind of classical. well, its religious, right? or 'silsila ye chaahat ka" also in devdas. Also, i dont know whether this fits your curriculum but i REALLY like "suraj hua maddham" in kabhi khushi kabhi gham" and an upbeat song like, uhh, well this ones kind of hard to choose because most upbeat songs have english in them. but im gonna have to say these... 1) aaj ki raat (don) 2) jhum chika chika jhum (kabhi khushi kabhi gham) 3) yeh ladka hai diwana (kuch kuch hota hai) 4) maahi ve (kal ho naa no) 5) aashiqui (36 chinatown) 6) i know this has english in it but i still like 'u r my soniya' 7) ye mera dil (don) hope this helps :)

You may not want to use Bollywood songs, as they are too new and may not be known to your audience. Try more traditional songs for wider appeal.
