HOW WOULD YOU DO THE SPLITS IN ABOUT A MONTH?!?!? How would you he the side splits (left or right) in one month? I'm a 14 year old girl, just in case your wondering(: I'm going to be trying out for dance at school (high school) in the next months. I want to be able to do the side splits. I can stand up, and touch my toes. What are some youtube videos that are REALLY thouough with describing what to do? I would be great if I could do it in about a month! It is not the middle splits. make sure you are warmed up before you stretch because it makes you more flexible. jog in place, do some jumping jacks, whatever. go into a lunge position. put the back knee on the ground. with the leg in front, make sure the knee does not go too far over your foot. it should just be a little further than 90 degrees. this should stretch the upper thigh on the back leg. next lean back onto the back let and make the front leg strait. lean over the front leg. if your butt touches your leg, put your front foot further in front of you. this should stretch the underneath of the whole front leg. Then I go into a jazz split. basically you keep the front leg strait and slide the back leg out to the side still bent so now your butt is touching the ground. then lean over the front leg. This should further the stretch of the previous stretch. (the underneath of the front leg) next I straiten my back leg and bent my front leg under me. you will want to make sure your hips are square (Parallel with your body. if you were facing a wall they would be Parallel with the wall) you push down with your hips. This should stretch right below your hip. I do this on both sides Finally I go into my splits. While in my splits I hold for a few seconds staying strait over the center of my body (this will make gravity push you down more than if you were leaning to one side) then I lean forward over my front leg for a few seconds. lastly I bend my back leg and lean back, trying to touch my toe to my head. Do this on both sides I did this every day twice a day for about 2 weeks. originally I was barely had my right splits and I was like 2 inches off on my left. After the 2 weeks of stretching I had a 2 inch oversplit on my right (I could put my foot on a 2 inch book or step or something and my butt would still be on the ground) and my complete splits on my left. I hope this helped :) also if you want to get your middle splits go into a straddle and lean over your leg. once with your body Parallel to a wall and once Parallel to the floor. then reach to the middle trying to get your stomach/chest to touch the floor. also you can lie down with your butt up against a wall and go into your straddle and let gravity pull your legs down.You can also lie down with your butt against a wall. put your legs out in stradle against the wall and leg gravity pull you down Working on your middle splits will help with your side splits as well as overall flexibility P.S.
