What should I do for a talent show?

What song should I do for my dance solo? I'm 15 and going to be performing in a talent show.?

  • It is a camp talent show and this will be my third time at the camp. Next year, I want to apply to be a counselor at the camp. It is for physically challenged kids, so the point of my solo will be to show that I am physically capable of being a counselor at the camp. I want to show that I have grown up since my first time and that I can physically take care of the campers. I started dancing when I was 6 and stopped at the end of 4th grade. The style of the performing group usually was jazz, but we would mix some other non-technical stuff in. I didn't dance in 5th grade, but then I started doing competitive cheerleading in 6th grade and I did that for three years. I am now on my high school cheer/pom dance team (JV) Anyways, I'm really struggling with what song to do because I want to show maturity but also be appropriate because there are little 6 year olds watching. I was thinking something upbeat is appropriate and shows maturity. I was thinking something along the lines of "I Gotcha" from Fosse, but I don't know how that would work out because what I picture myself doing is really technical. Any choreography suggestions would be welcomed too. I have a clean single pirouette, but I am not too flexible because of my physical challenges. However, I would be willing to work on technical stuff for the solo. I really want to impress the head counselors and really show them that I am physically capable of being a counselor next year, but I don't want it to be a "Look what I can do and you can't" because some of the kids are in wheelchairs. A solo I really like is at <>,http://www.dallascowboyscheerleaders.com/gallery/multimedia.cfm?id=76B926DC-BC7A-9B4B-B9018E470690E936>, however a solo more along the lines of what I could probably do more easily is at: http://www.dallascowboyscheerleaders.com/gallery/multimedia.cfm?id=3D6B2BCF-B6CD-342D-D166E441764F2702. Thank you so much for any input you give! :) P.S. I'm not obsessed with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, its just that some of them are really good dancers which is the impression I want to give and then the other video shows one of the girls as being not as strong of a technical dancer, but really powerful and creative. I would rather be a powerful and creative dancer than a dancer who tried to attempt technical stuff and then looked sloppy when she did it. :)
