How can I make my dancing better & how can I make my body more flexible?

I'm learning this dance on the internet through a video and was wondering how to make my dancing better (apart from PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE : ] ) It's a really fast dance like streetdance but with no headstands or stuff like that. I also want to know how to make my body more flexible so I can do harder dance routines, any websites, advice or exercise suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanxx xx

you want to stretch for about an hour before engaging in any physical activitiy, you will eventually see the results when you are able to move in ways you couldnt... As far as dancing try a variety of styles and see which fits your body language

stretch every day and maybe take up a complimentary activity such as yoga or pilates or a martial art to get your muscles supple. as for dancing i think its a confidence issue if your comfortable with the steps u will naill it .

the only way to get more flexible is to stretch a ton. but be careful! do NOT start out stretching too hard. its usually a good idea to stretch (splits, hamstrings, strattle, butterfly, frog, calves, etc) for about 30 seconds each before doing any dancing and then after you'be warmed up you're gonna need to hold each stretch for 3 minutes for it to do any good. that is how long it takes your body to not only let go of the muscles and relax but also to realize what you are wanting it to do. if you are stretching your muscles too hard you may pull something. just be gentle

Well of course, my first advice is to attend a dance class but if you're using a video then that is apparently not a choice. If you want to learn lessons like that your choice would be hip hop or funk. How to get flexible: 1. Wear stretchy clothes to stay in the same position without getting too bored. 2. Spread your legs as wide as they will go, and sit with them wide for 10-15 minutes. 3. Use something to hold your legs in that wide position such as something heavy and wide like a dresser, a wall, or a person(who slowly widens them with his/her legs). 4. Stand every 10-15 minutes and allow the pain from the stretch to wear off. 5. Get stretched faster and do more stretches for the same amount of time. 6. Repeat the process and allow your self to stretch wider each time for more minutes (25) at least. 7. Remember to breath deeply and stretch more on exhales 8. Avoid bouncing and rocking into position or having someone painfully force the stretch. You could tear or damage tendons, ligaments and muscles. Here are some tips: * Stretch after a hot bath or shower as they warm the muscles and make them softer and better for stretching. * Don't eat while stretching. * Don't stop stretching once you start. * Have a positive attitude. * Lunges help. * Stretch using rubber bands, or warm water to warm muscles. * Don't over-stretch yourself, or go beyond your limits. * Don't hurt yourself, or endure too much pain just to get the splits down. * Gently massage the upper leg muscles while stretching, for some people this seems to ease the pain. * Practise makes perfect. * Don't wait until the week before tryouts to learn to do splits. Start practising months in advance so your muscles and flexibility develop. * Once your body is used to splitting, it will become easier and easier to do it. * Always be committed to doing the splits because once you stop for awhile your muscles won't be as flexible as it used to be. hey im really in to Street Dance and Hiphop too. Pracise,Pracise.Pracise Really is the Key Tbh, But i Asked a Couple Question on Yahoo..And Stuff and People Said i Should Take up Ballet...i Was Like "No Way" at first as its Tottaly not my Thing and i needed to improve my Feliblery for Cheerleading so i didnt take up ballet in a class but i just watched simple ballet stethes and stuff and it really helped my Flexiblery. For the Dance as i Said Watch it Over and Pracise..Break it Down into small chunks and try and think of ways to rember. Good Lukk x Oh and umm something i should add once your body has done a move once it will get used to it and you will do it better next time....my Dance Teacher Told me That ;) lol

There are a few ways of improving your dancing and flexibility: 1. Lots and lots of stretching. 2. Belly dancing, you can learn it either from professionals, the internet or on TV, and it helps with flexibility no end. Plus it improves your rhythm and fluidity of movements. I do belly dancing to a professional level now and have found it helps with other aspects of dance. 3. Yoga is another good form of exercise to induce flexibility. Thats helped me no end over the years too. x

I am a dancer and i have been a dancer for at least 10 years but i stopped a year and I didn't stretch out all and now i cant do the splits or anything :( but now that i stretch every night and some times every morning Im getting my Flexible back :) so stretch stretch stretch!
