What should dancers eat?

  • I'm 13 i do ballet,pointe,jazz,lyrical,contemporary,… hop, and tumbling. what should i eat to stay healthy and fit?! HELP. i'm soon to be auditioning for agencies also

    Dancers need a variety of nutrients. Living off of (and dancing off of) just one food group will not give you peak performance to stay healthy and fit. Protein is needed for building and repairing muscle. Calcium is needed for strong bones. Vegetables, especially dark leafy greens, are especially good for dancers. Try to avoid too much sugary foods, processed foods, or large portions. Dancers should eat all foods in moderation. I'll finish by telling you one of my favorite quotes: "Respect your body, eat well; dance forever." This means that if you supply your body with what it needs to perform at its very best, that you will be able to dance for a very long time. Good luck with auditioning! :)

Eat like anyone else who's eating a healthy diet would. Fruits, vegetables, a variety of whole grains - not just whole wheat, but also grains such as quinoa, spelt, millet, barley, etc. And plenty of protein, such as yogurt (Greek is best), tofu, beans, and lean meats, eggs, and fish. Eat as naturally as possible. Just don't over do it. Watch the calories, if you need to. But eat a good balance of healthy foods.
