Where should I start in breakdancing?

I have never danced in my life, And I want to start Breakdancing is this possible?

  • It's weird i've danced when i was little... like 6 years old and did gymnastics since i was like 11... but i quit. And ever since i was like 13 whenever i listen to music i picture myself breakdancing or hiphop dancing to it... I want to be a dancer so bad but im 16 with no experience, is this possible? Apparently really good dancers start at this age but I really want to dance so bad. Any tips?

Hi, I started dance when I was about to turn 13. Since most of my friends who were dancers started when they were 3, they had a 10 year advantage, and I thought it was too late for me to ever start dancing, but it turns out I was wrong. I took a beginner class during the summer. And while I was a little bit slow, and it took me a few times to get things right, I did in fact do it, and I am so happy I did. My tip would be to focus in class. All the other girls in my class would talk and giggle, but I stayed quiet for the most part, and focused on the teacher, and I think I understood things more than they did. Like someone else said, I think it would be good to start off with Hip Hop. I did hip hop this year, and the instructor taught us a few moves. I think the hip hop background really helped.

I often find myself dancing at weddings and taverns after I have had too much to drink. So Alcohol is the best way to start dancing. You don't even need music. Assuming that you are of legal drinking age....................

Of course! You can start dancing anytime, no matter how old you are. The key point is to never give up! Here are some tips to keep you going! * Don't give up. If you feel something's too hard, just try your best. * Practice. Every dancer will tell you this. The more you practice, the more technique and experience you will get. * Come to all of your dance lessons. Don't miss a single one!* Work your backside off in your lessons. You won't regret it! * Take as many lessons as you can. The more the better, but it's OK if you can only do one class. * Be healthy. If you're healthy, you'll be a good dancer, and I'm not talking about the technique. * Listen to any advice or tips any dancers have to give you. Also, if you want to do breakdancing and you've never done it, it would be best to start at hip hop and when you get good at it, try breakdance. Don't worry, you're never too old. Trust me. I've seen a guy on a dance TV show, not SYTYCD, who impressed me by saying he only started dancing a year ago! He was about 30. And also 30 year old ladies do classical lessons and they're good! But also remember the world of dance is a tough one. Are you sure you want to spend your life with it? Dancing is hard and you don't get paid much for it. Maybe you should just do the lessons and practice, then get a job and if you see any auditions for dance shows such as So You Think You Can Dance, give it a go! But it's all your choice so do whatever you like. Hope I helped and good luck, welcome to the world of dance! LDxx
