Hidden mickeys? disneyland secrets?

What are some Disneyland secrets?

  • We will be going to DisneyLand California and i wanted to know some little secrets around both parks (disneyland and California adventure park). I don't want secrets about hidden mickeys or history just the stuff that would be fun to look for with the kids(example:like the cat from alice in wonderland in the mirror at mad hatters shop). Also is their any places to eat that you would recommend? Any characters that are hard to find or not on the map? Also is their any other locations that you can go to view the shows like world of color, fireworks etc that are less crowded but can still get a great view? Thanks!!!!!

  • Answer:

The water fountains dispense children's tears instead of water. That was a joke (they don't do that anymore). Anyway, there is a secret apartment above the fire station on Main Street that Walt Disney himself used to entertain guests. The entrance is through a little door in the garage of the fire station and from the apartment, you have a perfect view of Main Street and the parades.

In Fantasyland, stand facing Snow White's Scary Adventure and look up. On the second floor is a big window with curtains. The Evil Queen opens the curtain and peers down at the crowd for a few seconds and then closes the curtain. This happens every minute or so. Take in lunch at the Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland. They have a great show called Billy Hill and The Hillbillies which is funny and silly.

In DCA, there is a restaurant on the pier bakery area, sells New England Clam Chowder in bread bowls. Yum! ;P

Negotiating the park during the busiest season is probably the best secret available. But you didn't ask for that. The best tip is use fast passes intelligently, and embrace crowds. The best secret is go west. Get there at 8am, and go to Adventureland. Most others go to Tomorrowland, foolishly. The real action is in Adventureland, Orleans Square, and Frontierland. You can knock-out 8 of Disneyland's best attractions in an hour or two if you stay focused. Go first to Indiana Jones, then Pirates, then Slash Mountain, the Thunder Mtn. It can all be done by 9am. Then do Haunted Mansion...never busy in the morning. Then double back to Jungle Cruise and Tiki Room. Let tomorrowland wait for the evening, when the lighting is better. The best place to watch fireworks is right across from the Plaza Restaurant...trust me on this.
