Never been on a roller coaster, but going to a theme park. Help?

I'm afraid of riding roller coasters or any type of fast ride? help!?

  • Hi, i am going to disney world for the third time and i am afraid that i am going to get sick when i ride on the rides . But here's the thing. Im a sixteen year old healthy girl who rarely gets sick. The only fast ride i've ever been on is the comet, which is at my local theme park the great escape. it has no loops, its max speed is 55 and is a wooden jerky roller coaster. but i love it! But i am afraid to go on like the tower of terror, space mountain, everest, and rockin roller coaster. idk what to do. Should i be? is there any tips to seize my anxiety? Thank you for any help. because ever since i was a kid i have been scared about getting sick on rides!

Okay...plain and simple - all the coasters that you listed that you are planning on going on in Disney World are just about as "intense" as the Comet that you rode...soo..none of them really are intense - they are really aimed at the younger crowd (..hey, it's Disney..) so you shouldn't worry about a thing. The only coaster that you listed that may feel different to you is the Rock N Roller Coaster, since it has inversions and it's a launch coaster - but still, it's relatively a tame ride. The only ride that may give you the "stomach in your mouth" feeling would be the tower of terror, but it's only for a few seconds - it's really not that bad either. So do not be anxious since most of those rides are mild (they are aimed toward families after all). You won't get sick - I get sick easily on rides and those wouldn't get me sick, so I'm very sure you will not get sick. Honestly, the rides themselves may actually be disappointing - it's really the marvelous theming that makes those rides thrilling, not the actual coaster track (excluding tower of terror). So chill, they are not bad AT ALL. PS. If you STILL are nervous about getting sick, then just take some motion sickness medicine before you head on the rides (or some ginger).

I was deathly scared of roller coasters at first too, and the only way to face your fear is just by riding one. Once you do, you'll just have a rush and will most likely ride more. Just think "I'll never know how it feels til I ride it". You only live once, and I really doubt you'll get sick, just stay calm and you'll be good. Don't be afraid, that might get you a little nauseous. Hope you face your fear.

I was afraid of roller coasters too, but my brother took me on space mountain , which was my first ever roller coaster and i loved it! You don't even know that you're on a roller coaster! I actually feels like you're flying through space! Its amazing! You cant even see anything anyway cause its pitch black except for stars and planets and stuff. Just ride it. you might feel queasy in the line but when you ride it its so much fun!

hi im a 13 year old girl and i have never gone on one roller coaster till last year and i can not believe how exciting they were! my first "roller coaster" was the batman. and I loved it i couldn't believe what i was missing out on and my advice is to take ppl with you to the rides, of course, and RUN to all of the rides thats what my friends did to me so i didn't have time to think about if i didn't want to ride it or not. and im so happy that they did that it was actually a lot of help. also my 11 year old friend is normally not afraid of roller costers but when she went to disney world for the first time she rode alot of them and was scared at first. [now I personally haven't been on any roller costers there b/c i was to little when i went] but anyway she was scared to go on at first and when she got back she could not stop talking about them! she said that they were some of the funnest things that she has ever done. [But im not sure if she rode the comet or not.] so I say try them and I bet you'll love them and since you don't get sick normaly I dought that you'll throw up. just dont go on them right after you eat i say eat before you go and by the time you get there you'll be fine. so try them and have fun! [sorry this mesage is so long:)]

I used to be afraid of roller coasters when I was younger also, but one day my friend made me go on one, and I've loved them ever since. Just suck it up and try it, if you don't like it or get sick, then there's nothing you can do about it (you're just not a roller coaster person.) There's only one way to find out.

I have the same problem and I worked for Walt Disney Productions for Ten years in Anaheim. I don't like roller coasters and I don't get on them. I asked my doctor about it once and she said it was probably an imbalance in the inner ear. You don't have to get on rides just because other people do and you don't owe anybody an explanation for why you don't. There are other more serious things to worry about. My father never flew on an airplane. I love to fly on airplanes.

i used 2 be scared of fast rollercoasters too. like this one ride called " the mamba" at the worlds of fun in kansas..it goes like a zillion miles in the air..then you drop like 1 million miles an hour..lol, when i first rode it i closed my eyes through the whole ride and then did it again without closing my eyes and i wasnt scared to ride it anymore. the only way u culd get sick is if you eat or drink before you ride the ride...

Deffinatly take bonine. You won't have to worry about getting sick if you do. And Disney rides are TAME compared to most other rides. space mountain isn't even that fast so don't worry.

Maybe you can trie a pill for travel sickness. When I go to Disneyland or something, I always take one and I'm sure it works!
