Hidden mickeys? disneyland secrets?

Anybody know any Disneyland secrets?

  • (Disneyland Anaheim) Real secrets, not tips on how to get on lines or something. Hidden Mickeys, Hidden Characters, or other secrets like that. Things like the hidden Eeyore parking sign in Indiana Jones, the chandelier inside the castle is a clock set to the time of Walt Disney's death, or the secret Pet Cemetery. Don't give me any websites, I've been to some and they list too many additional things and it's a pain to have to read everything and pick out the interesting facts.

You've got some good answers. First, let's dispel a few fallacies: * The brass circle in the tunnel entrance of Sleeping Beauty Castle does not now nor has it ever marked the center of the park, before or after adding Toontown. It is merely a surveyor's marker used to align the Castle with Main Street. There are many surveyor's markers like this throughout the park. * The petrified tree, along with being the oldest thing in the park, was also an anniversary gift from Walt to his wife Lillian. * The basketball court at the top of the Matterhorn is little more than a key-sized space with a hoop. It was placed there by mountaineers needing something to do on their breaks. It has nothing to do with, nor have there been any laws regarding, the height of sporting arenas. Now some new stuff: * The windows along Main Street all bear names of important people in the park's history. * Listen! Along Main Street you'll heard various things from the upper windows, like a piano lesson or a dentist drilling. * Look for the mezzuzah on the door of the only Jewish character on Main Street. * Walt and Lillian celebrated their 40th anniversary at the Golden Horseshoe days before the park opened. * A crypt along the walkways surrounding the Rivers of America is all that remains of a huge story that tied together Pirates, the Mansion, and Tom Sawyer's Island. * All performers, crew, costumes, props, etc for Fantasmic! are ferried across the Rivers of America. There is no tunnel or bridge connecting the Island with the rest of the park. * There is no underground tunnel system at Disneyland. There is an underground tunnel system, called Utilidors, at Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom. Walt saw cast members in costume crossing the park at Disneyland and breaking the continuity of the scene, like a Frontierland cowboy in Tomorrowland. As a result, he wanted a method where cast members could cross the park unseen by guests. * Finials along the Small World facade are finished in gold leaf and are designed based on a charm bracelet Mary Blair often wore. Blair is the credited designer behind the look of Small World. * Imagineers often put an homage to a former attraction inside when a new attraction is built. Look for the rock-work mermaid and sea serpent on Finding Nemo's Submarine Voyage, a nod to the former Submarine Voyage. Look above and behind you as you leave the dream room on Winnie the Pooh to see three mounted heads from the former Country Bears attraction.

1. There's a secret target in Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters worth 50,000 points. When you see Zurg (both times) there's a tiny dark circle underneath the Z logo on his chestplate between the line that runs down the center. It's hard to shoot from a distance, but when you do, keep pulling the trigger to increase your score. 2. The three doors in Indiana Jones don't lead to three different rides. You go on the same on everytime. The walls move, and the car is really traveling down a straight path. There's a basketball court in the Matterhorn (it's not open to the public and you can't spot in on either sides of the ride) that the Disney Cast members could use in their free time. 3. Not sure this is a secret, but when you ride the Disney Railroad from Tommorowland to Main Street, U.S.A., you can see scenes of the Grand Canyon and also dinosaurs that no one else can see. This is the only way to see them, but it's a short ride. 4. A few people have actually tried to bury dead people in the Haunted Mansion, but Disney wouldn't let them.
