Is Mountain creek Water Park a good theme park?

Is it true that you can't take plain water into GREAT AMERICA theme park in Santa Clara?

  • Is it true that you can't take plain water into GREAT AMERICA theme park in Santa Clara? I'm thinking of taking my kids there, but I'm concerned about dehydration. The website (http://www.pgathrills.com/DOCs/08cga_Special_Needs.pdf) says "Although food and beverages are not allowed in the park, individuals who have special need/diet items due to a medical condition may bring small coolers in to accommodate such needs." Plain water surely does not qualify as a special need but I'm still concerned about dehydration. Spending a whole day where beverages are not allowed? - I don't think so! So has anyone had it out at the entrance gate over plain water? Do they ask you to spill it out and go without? Do they charge money for just plain water? I'm not taking about sodas or mineral waters etc..

  • Answer:

You can bring plain water in small (single serve size (like 16 ounce bottles) only). You must bring in plain water that is not carbonated, in a plastic bottle only. They do not allow glass bottles or containers of any kind. Additionally, you can't carry the water bottles on the rides, unless they are secure inside of some sort of pack. They charge money for water bottles at the concession stands (the prices are high), and there are drinking fountains with nasty "local" water near all of the restrooms where you can get water for free (if you can stand the taste).
