How busy Disney world is on President Weekend?

Think it's possible to do Disney World in one weekend? From Chicago?

  • My step daughter is coming to visit in March. She is 8, and my son is 4. My husband and I would really love to take advantage of the time she will be with us, and we want to take them to Disney World. Here is the issue. I cannot take anymore time off of work, The best I can do I maybe take off a Friday afternoon, and possibly a Monday Do you think it would be at all possible to drive down from Chicago to WDW on a Friday night, spend the weekend then come home Sunday night? Would that give us enough time to really experience Walt Disney World? If you think that would be pushing it, I maybe be able to get the following Monday off, so we could have all day on Sunday, incase we don't make it there in good time for Saturday. I just don't know if it will be worth it. I really do want to go though. The kids would have the time of their lives, and so would we <3 Any thoughts?

You may want to re-think this, while it sounds good on paper there are several things you did not take into account. First on the 18 hour drive. 18 Hours is if everything goes perfect and you never make(or have minimal) stops for gas and food. Remember you have 2 kids with you, do you really think that they will be able to sit for 18 hours straight..I can tell you from experience it isn't going to happen. So yes even an overnight trip you are going to have to stop more than a few times. You can figure that the 18 hour trip is going to turn into a 20-21 hour trip at least. Then think about the drive back. You not only have the same drive, but you have had minimal sleep for the last few days. In addition to running around a Theme Park all day. How wide awake are you really going to be for the drive back? Not to mention how cranky 2 kids will again be who are having to sit for hours at a time with a lack of sleep. If you still decide to go don't plan on hitting all 4 parks, that is not going to happen. With just adults you could hit the highlights of the 4 parks in 1.5-2 days, but doing this with kids is not a wise idea. Not only are they going to get tired from spending a lot of time going between the parks, they are not going to be given time to really enjoy anything. So if you do decide to do this focus on 1 or 2 parks ONLY. With the kids this age Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom would probably be your best choices. You may want to plan this for her next visit. Where you can get more than a weekend, or at least if you can save enough for the plane tickets.

You might make it with a plane but drive there? last time i drove there from texas it took half a day not including traffic but once you get there you might not be able to go to all the parks in one weekend think of all the lines once i waited 80 minutes for a ride but that was in summer. but i hope you have a great time (the customer service is awesome and try the turkey legs) i never got to go to all the parks again because i had to run away from the hurricane last year

Definitely. My bf and I can do Disneyworld AND Universal in a weekend and return on a Sunday night. This time of year it is probably not that crowded and lines for rides won't be long. It is chilly in FL right now. Be sure to bring plenty of warm clothing.

No, you probably wouldn't get the full enjoyment of Disney in 1 1/2 days. If you could go back maybe Monday night it would be much better... Good Luck!

sorry to say i don't think this is going to work. if you left on friday after noon and drove straight through you would be too tired to do anything saturday (really the only day you have for the theme parks) and then leave sunday afternoon? its just not gonna happen. there are 4 theme parks (magic kingdom, epcot, hollywood studios, and animal kingdom) you really need a solid day at least for magic kingdom and another day for epcot and another day for hollywood studios and animal kingdom would only take half a day but i do think the park is worth it. so thats 3 and a half days right there and thats if you could keep yourselfs going with out a relax day to do all the parks. its not worth it. why not plan to go in a few months and ask for that time off of work right now so you'd have enough time to enjoy disney world.

Indiana Jones

i would seriously look at alternatives like to fly 18 hrs in a car the last thing you will want to do is go to a park you would leave at like 6pm and reach here saturday at noon then i know you will want to rest a little by the time you are ready to go to the park you are ready to be driving back home look at price line expedia things like that i got flights from tampa to boston on a last min flight for 75 dollars each way might sound like alot of money but in the long run it isnt you are now saving about 20 hours of play time you can fly out friday night get here on a friday late do a late check into the hotel and start super fresh on saturday play almost all day sunday take a flight at 7 or 8pm sleep on the flight and go back to work on a monday

You are going to be spending a ton of money for one weekend. Driving 36 hours is crazy for that amount of time. Wait till you have more time. Take her downtown to American Girl, the museum, or the zoo. Spending time together is the most important thing to do.

If I did all of the parks in one day with my husband. I think two days will be fine. They'll love it. And it sounds to me that a two day vacation is exactly what you need. So go and have a great time! I know you will!
