How long does it take to digest rice?

Why doesn't black rice digest?

  • I bought this black sweet rice from Ranch 99 the other day. I cooked it very well, its mushy to taste. However, my stools are filled with rice, whole kernels of rice in perfect form, why isn't it digesting? Am I getting no nutrients from eating this rice? It makes me full, but I want the nutrients and you know not lose weight because I'm eating this rice. Thanks, Alex

  • Answer:

I am not sure if this is the same, but I found some information at all-creatures.org, according to them, you do receive a small amount of nutrition from black sweet rice, a.k.a. black sticky rice. It may be something else you are eating, I know that when I eat corn and any type of rice together, I usually receive the same type of stool as you do. It is just hard to see white rice in a colored stool. It may be the amount of fiber you are ingesting. Fiber has been known to do this type of thing. If you ingest more fiber than most it would definitely extract itself from your digestive system. A better option for eating rice would be long grain brown rice. It is higher in fiber and nutrients than other types of rice.
