  You can get kale pretty much year round. I have bought it at all times of year. Where I live, in New England, it is most in season in the late fall - October and November. This is when you can most easily harvest it in your own garden, and it will be cheapest and most plentiful in the grocery stores. But really, you can buy it year round. What varieties are available and how plentiful they are will depend on where you live. There are lots of varieties out there, and all are great, but I like dinosaur kale best (also called black kale or lacinato kale.) I haven't seen lots of it in stores in a few weeks. Mostly there's green kale out now, which is curly. Still yummy and healthy too!
