What alternatives are there to oil? What is the best?

Vegetable Oil makes such a mess! What are some alternatives?

  • My boyfriend likes to cook ALOT of our foods in vegetable oil. But I keep coming back time and time again, to find most of the kitchen a greasy mess. He's good at alot of things but awareness of cleanliness isnt one of them and he's not willing to stop cooking with the oil. My question is, are there any alternatives that will cook/taste similarly, but wont make the huge greasy mess?

    It is the way he cooks, and is probably the amount of oil he uses and the temperatures. There are fine mesh covers that can be placed over a fry pan, but the best thing is to make him ether change his ways and clean up or continue to do it yourself. There is oven grilling and baking for some cooking, but then you have the oven to clean out from time to time.

If he's not willing to stop cooking with oil, he needs to be willing to be mindful of the mess he is creating and fixing it. It's perfectly possible to pan fry w/o making a mess. Make him use a splatter guard and/or wipe up his grease when he's done.

He's is simply going to have to learn not to make a mess & if he does he is to clean it up.
