Why do people drink?

Why do most people prefer to drink cold water, but not hot water?

  • Well, I like to drink hot stuff, and I sometimes drink plain hot water in a mug. Not to the point of it being boiling hot, but like coffee or tea. I've mentioned it a few times, and some people seem to think it's odd. Most people drink other hot beverages, so I don't understand what's wrong with hot water. Why do the majority of people seem to prefer cold water over hot water? Do most people find hot water to be nasty, or have they never tried it? Why is this?

    First of all, Hella Cool question! I would say it has something to do with nature and how it doesn't have it prepared hot for us when we drink it naturally. But again we can chalk it up to lack of originality? Most people just learn from seeing hearing etc..and few people learn from trying something new. You obviously are someone that thinks a bit out of the box and that is great because that type of thought process is revolutionary and evolutionary in my opinion. Also, most people drink a lot of it from when done exercising, or being out in the sun too long...and to be all Hot and then drink Hot water....is not so pleasant. That is sort of like being really cold a and taking a cold shower, or going running 5 miles and then having a Hot Chocolate. I do prefer it room temperature sometimes! But mainly, because no one else does it, so no one really thinks to try it. My friend, he is from Sweden (or how they call it Svaria) and he says that they dont drink their beer cold, but room temperature...but now that he is Americanized he likes it Cold. :) Peace

People prefer cold water because, generally. there is less oxygen in hot water. so it doesn't taste as good.

I think it is because when exercising instant relief helps like a nice cold cup of water and it helps keep you awake and focused, but when you take a shower you take a warm one right? because a shower warms you briefly then slowly decreases your body temperature so that you can calm down and slow down, In brief warm water is close to your body temperature keeping you at the same pace, but cold water is kind of like a slap in the face, hope that helped!

My mom always drank hot water so she could have something hot without having to have coffee or tea, I've kind of adopted that as well....I get the weird looks at work and the "why would you drink that?", but I enjoy it. I think a lot of people have to drink something with flavour or something refreshing which is why they might think hot water is weird?!

People tend to want to drink water when they dehydrated, usually by some kind of hear source. It is only natural to drink a cool beverage when you are thirsty and hot. When drinking a warm beverage, people and more relaxed and trying to enjoy themselves. So why drink hot water when you can drink a nice cup of warm cocoa or coffee?

Most people drink water to quench thirst, not for pleasure. So that's the point of cold water. Hahah, but it's kind of weird to like hot water. I mean, if i'm cold I'll usually be like, Damn, I want some hot chocolate. Not Doesn't hot water sound good right now?

I tried it. Hot things with a flavor is good. But since water is a good things to drink while you're exercising, thats why I would drink it cold. Maybe I would drink hot water if I was cold.

because they will not feel full . so , they drink cold water even me i prefer cold water over hot water. as to my knowledge if you drink hot water you will want more and more water an feel thirsty! greetings
