For a DBA you need to have below qualities. ---> SQL/ PL-SQL. You need to first start with SQL and then PL-SQL so that you exactly start to know RDBMS. SQL is key for RDBMS. ---> Decide which database you wish to learn. Booming & reliable now are Oracle, MySQL & IBM DB2. You can learn Oracle or MySQL. Both are good and have a lot of potential. Scope of Oracle is more than MySQL. Don't go for Teradata as you can move to Teradata once you have 8-10 years of experience in Oracle. ---> You should be able to do night shifts as DBA is a 24*7 task.
