What's the best Johnnie Walker whiskey?

Does whiskey ever go bad?

• Please read the whole thing: I have always heard that distilled liquors / spirits never go bad; but as of a few minutes ago I have come to question this theory... A buddy of mine gave me a bag full of little 50ml bottles of various liquors & spirits (mostly scotch whiskeys, gin, vodka and a few others...). These bottles are REALLY OLD, at least 25-35 years; Most of these bottles are halfway full or less, yet the seals have never been cracked... some are even all the way empty! (I assume this is what they call "the angel's share"). I have tried a few and they were alright... So only within the last half hour I decided to try a few others; I opened a Seagram's Canadian whiskey & it was cloudy, it stank terribly, and was not flammable... needless to say that went down the kitchen drain. Then I opened a bottle of Johnnie Walker red-label it was about 2/3 full and the color was good, but it smelled awful, I pour a drop into the cap and lit it with a lighter, it burned like ever-clear, so I figured it was alright and tired a shot of it. The taste was horrendous, and it burned worse than a shot of ever-clear; I wanted to vomit. I still feel like crap even after chasing it down with soda and drinking a big glass of water. I fear that somehow the whiskey may have been tainted; I know what Red-label should taste like; trust me this was not it. SO... back to my question can whiskey go bad? Obviously this was the case with the bottle of Seagrams, but what about the Johnnie? I mean it had pleanty of alcohol it in... I would think it is sterile and "safe" to drink...
