  Depends on the wine... if you have a white you can drink it the next day. Some producers (high end producers, not Franzia) are making boxed wines that are in bags that will last for months. If you open a bottle and do not finish it they also sell a nitrogen product which you fill the bottle with. This will allow the product to stay for a couple more days until either you drink it, or you add more nitrogen. I do not recomend buying splits (half-bottles) because they cost only a few dollars less than a full bottle. The previous posts are also correct, however some wines do need to 'open' up prior to drinking. You can speed this process up by using a decanter. I recomend shopping in a wine store with knowledgable employees that will be able to suit your tastes and when to drink questions for each individual bottle.
