How Do You Use A Chinese Bamboo Steamer?

  • I got this for my birthday and i would really like to use it . It is a group of bamboo spheres the fit snugly on top of one another.

    Find a wok that this will fit in the top half of the Wok, or, if you have to use a western pot, then find one where the steamer sits on top of the pot and all the slats on the bottom are covered by the pot. place water in the wok/pot and bring to a boil. Depending on what you are steaming, you way want to place napa cabbage leaves on the bottoms so the items to not stick. After you have all the items you want steamed in the layers of the steamer, cover with the lid and let it steam until the food is cooked (according to directions in the recipe). It's a healthy way to cook, but I never cared much for bamboo steamers because the steam passing through all the spheres just makes everything taste the same. You can't tell the difference between the fish and the vegetables. Bleh...

heat a pot of hot water , and make sure the steamers fit on top, their u go, they are very fun, hope u have a wok 2, their great
