How to make the perfect Sushi rice without a rice cooker?

• um yea the title says it all. I have tried making sushi before but the rice has never worked. i've always used sushi rice but it goes all mushy. How can i make sushi rice like the stuff you get in sushi bars without some sort of rice cooker? thanks

  Rice cookers can be pretty unreliable. For really good rice, I suggest a store such as Whole Foods. Do not use instant rice. The stuff they do to it to make it instant really makes it weird. To get sticky rice, you need to use the old-fashioned kind. I like Jasmine rice. It's tasty and sticky. Brown rice doesn't work.
