Are there any good Indian restaurants in Bangkok?

Why do certain "kinds" of restaurants follow VERY clicheed styles?

• For instance, ALL "Indian restaurants" seem to have a "lunch buffet", all "Mexican" restaurants are "family" Mexican restaurants, Italian restaurants seem to be mostly owned by Greeks, Japanese restaurants are mostly owned by Koreans, and Thai restaurants almost invariably have unique (hah) names like "Bangkok" or "Siam" or even "Phad Thai"...

  Because people want to eat at places that make them feel comfortable. As far as the ownership of restaurants goes, let's say you are of Bosnian descent and lived in Minnesota and wanted to have a successful restaurant. What do you think you would sell more of, Bosnian food or Japanese food? I'd bet even the frozen north you'd have more customers at a Japanese place, because people are familiar with it. I ate at a Bosnian restaurant last week and really enjoyed it but it would hard to convince some of my friends to go there, simply because they wouldn't know what to expect. There is a restaurant I know that changes every couple of years. I thought it kept going out of business but many years ago when Japanese food was just beginning to get hip I ate next to the owner of the place. He changed the restaurant every couple of years to reflect what was popular. It has been a steak house, a Japanese place, a natural food restaurants, etc. Makes a lot of sense, doesn't it? If you are thinking 'but what if you are from Bosnia and make great Bosnian food? I say I'd like to eat there, but good luck making a living.
