What is the best way to get rid of poison ivy?

What is a really quick way to get rid of poison ivy?

  • I have i all over my arms and on my face.

  • Answer:

There is no quick way. It has to run its course. Calamine lotion will ease some of the discomfort. Oatmeal soap is good at relieving the burn - wash a couple times a day with oatmeal soap and take a shower using oatmeal soap - the cooler the water the better, hot water will aggravate it. Cool water compresses are good. You can take allergy medication to help reduce the inflammation. Drink water with a few pinches of baking soda in it - that will calm your body down by reducing the acidity from the inflammation. You're just going to have to put up with it, sorry, there's no fast remedy. Be sure to keep your hands away from the rest of the body and wash your hands after touching any contaminated place - wearing cotton gloves is a good idea to protect yourself. It can take up to two weeks to recover but you'll start to get relief after about 4- 7 days. That's the course it takes and there's not much to do about it except get relief as much as you can.
