Vegetarians have a rough time here outside the main centres. If you are self catering, or living here, life for a vegetarian is wonderful as the fruit and veg, bread, and cheese is fantastic and there are all sorts of beans and chick peas. If not, you will find that even green salads have a bit of ham or tuna to spice them up. This goes back to the expulsion of the Jews and Muslims in the 14th or was it 15th century! It was a great way to find them! Of course there is pizza and pasta. There is everywhere. Tapas are good in that you can see what you are going to get. Try rovellons or setas, big wild mushroom thing grilled with garlic olive oil and parsley. Only on sale in autumn. BUT watch out, the temptation to sprinkle bits of ham on top is difficult to resist if you are Spanish! Watch out for ensaimadas in Mallorca. Saim is pig fat, not what you expect in cakes or buns!

Oh for goodness sake....normal food? There are hundreds of English pubs and cafes that serve up greasy chips and sausages. But paella is lovely as is sardines on toast and any pork dish.

Come on! have a paella, or some tapitas! (there's always a McDonald's but going to Spain without eating a paella there!?)

I've never been to Spain but have eaten at many Spanish restaurants. They have tapas bars where they serve little appetizer-sized dishes. Those are really cool! You get to try a little bit of everything, and wash it down with sangria (spanish wine with fruits soaked in it). I'm sure they have vegetarian tapas like potatoes and mushrooms, etc. Personally the best Spanish dish I've had is Paella. It's rice cooked in a saffron broth and it's amazing!!! I don't know if they have vegetarian paellas but you can always ask. They normally make it with chicken and/or seafood. I've heard it's really cheap in Spain too. Have a great time! Don't just go for pasta and pizza in Spain! Spanish food is sooooo incredible!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they serve Spanish food. Just about every country I have ever been too has a Pizza Hut, so if your not up for some Spanish food, then you can always eat fast food.

Spain has Spanish food, and very good I may add. They also have a very extended menu of vegetarian foods. You will also be able find your typical American franchised fast food restaurants. They make some killer pizzas in Spain, not like the ones in the States... they are a bit different, but very tasty!! Once you are there I'm pretty sure you'll make friends and then they'll take to places they know. HAVE FUN!!

If you are going to a foreign country, why do you have to ruin the experience by wanting to eat AmeriKan foods... if you want AmeriKan food... then stay home... if you want to sample the delightul foods in Spain... lots of seafoods and fresh vegetables... then enjoy... but don't insult the people in spain by insisting on eating AmeriKan fast foods... because that IS an insult to good food.
