Where can I find these items?

Where can I find a 'global menu,' and a guide to the food items listed therein?

• I'm pretty much limited to the boundaries of my town (pop. 10K). However, my goal is to partake of every food item known to man. Occasionally, I can catch a ride to the nearest 'big' city (pop. 150k), where I visit the two asian markets located there. I'm basically looking for anything you couldn't find in your typical grocery, or 'Americanized' oriental chain restaurant. But while I've found several new items there (balut, durian, skate wing, tako yaki,etc.), I can only read english, and don't have a clue what some of them are, or how to prepare or eat them. The lady behind the register said that the owner could help me, but since I'm at the mercy of my 'ride,' I never have time for the guided tour. Is there a website that can offer a listing of ethnic food, as well as what they are and how to use them? I'd like to find more than just Asian food as well. As I said I can only travel vicariously through my stomach, and I wish to be a GLOBAL traveler. "Waiter--may I see a menu?"
