How to cook ROAST CHICKEN n HAINANESE CHICKEN n FRIED CRISPY CHICKEN n WHITECICKEN SAMBALCHCIKEN ROAST CHICKEN?

Do Americans eat roast chicken?

  • There is an ad on Aussie TV at the moment. It's an ad for a restaraunt chain which specialises in roast chicken. The guy in the ad is supposed to be in new york asking for directions to the nearest "Red Rooster" outlet, asking a lot of confused looking americans. He says "they do roast chicken" and the americans say "What? they don't fry it?" and one even says "ROAST chciken? what's that taste like?" And the slogan is "americans, they just don't get it." Is it maybe that americans have roast chicken as a big family meal, but only fried chicken as fast food? Or do americans think chicken is for frying and turkey is for roasting? Or is it - like most ads - just total rubbish?

  • Answer:

Chicken - we roast it, broast it, fry it, boil it, grill it, broil it, bake it, stir fry it, saute it, saute in wine then bake it, stuff it, slice it, dice it, casserole it, sandwich it, I could go on but I am getting tired. We love our chicken.

Total Rubbish. We have a place called Boston Market that specializes in Roasted Chicken, meatloaf, ham and other family Sunday foods. I roast chicken every chance I get. I get more out of it that way. First, dinner, then sandwiches, then soup. I just finished a roast Turkey. It fed us for over a week.

Its rubbish, although I will say most people eating out won't order roast chicken as its made so often at home. We also have take out rotisserie chickens which are basically the same as roasted whole chickens. We do like our fried chickens too, we have several chains here that do that, and we have roast or rotisserie chicken chains too. We also fry chickens at home. With so many women working its become fairly ordinary to bring in take out from many sources. But home cooks do still exist, and they love their chicken any way it can be cooked.

Obviously the ad is slanted to make the most of the suggestion that you can only find the best roast chicken at the Red Rooster chicken-chain. Which also capitalizes on brand awareness of one of our more dodgy exports - KFC; I suspect another point of the Red Rooster ads... Of course we eat roast chicken. Both done classically in the oven as well as having our own home-sized rotisserie ovens is commonly popular now. Cheers

Yes American people love to eat roasted chicken. Especially if the seasoning is just right, I hate dry/bland chicken.

Total garbage. Americans eat roast chicken just like every other culture that has ever stuck a plucked bird on a spit over a fire. Fried chicken just happens to be very popular.

ROFL ..... that's funny. Yesssssssss, we eat roasted chicken; we can even cook it ourselves. I personally don't like it; because to me it is mostly white meat. I prefer dark meat; so I buy wings, thighs & legs.

Americans and esp New Englanders have a long tradition of eating roasted chicken. In the 1800's it a popular community event to have a chicken roast. The town would all come together and enjoy roasted chicken. Rudyard Kipling was known to complain about the importance New Englanders placed on these chicken roasts during is short time living there.
