Why is there no Mexican food in Spain?
-
I know Spain isn't bordering Mexico, but Mexico "came" from Spain and I think that Spain should at least have a little chunk of their culture.

Answer:
The only two things that Spain and Mexico have in common is that Mexico was conquered by Spain in 1521 and as a result Mexicans speak (and write) in a derivation of the Castalan Spanish language and that some culinary cultures of Spain continue to exist in Mexican cuisine. For the same reasons but from different historical dates, there is very little Chilean, Colombian, Venezuelan, Ecuadorian and other South American food in Spain. However, within Spain you will find enclaves of South American people who will no doubt retain own culinary cultures and you will find the occasional South American dishes on Spanish menus, particularly in the major Spanish cities. For an example, chilli con carne is quite popular, as it is in UK. Franchises of some Tex Mex restaurants, e.g. 'Chilis' are now appearing all over Europe

US americans slaughtered almost all native american population, reason why the native american cuisine is almost nonexistent in the US. In the spanish-speaking countries the native population is around 60%. That's why Mexico kept its native cuisine.... but those aspects specific of the mexican native population did not exist in Spain. On the other hand there are things in Mexico that are original from Spain, like rice, Flan, Churros...

What makes you think there are no Mexican restaurants in Spain? Here's a list of Mexican restaurants in Barcelona: http://barcelona.costasur.com/en/restaurantes-mexicanos.html and in Valencia: http://www.asiarooms.com/en/travel-guide/spain/valencia/what-and-where-to-eat-in-valencia/mexican-restaurants-in-valencia.html This is just the start. I'm sure there are more in other regions of Spain.

because spanish people and mexican people are way different! spain may have settled mexico, but the people there are more like indians than the people from spain.
