Who works as a barista at Starbucks?

I've worked at Starbucks. Can I really say I have barista experience?

  • I live in Minneapolis, trying to go back to working with coffee. My only experience is with Starbucks, and anyone who has worked for Starbucks or with espresso machines in general know Starbucks employees are just button pushers. I've had many interviews for coffeehouses in the past where I specified my work experience. But where there is a job advertising for an experienced barista do you think they would consider me? I guess what i'm asking is would a small coffee shop owner consider my experience adequate?

  • Answer:

I've worked as a barista in book stores and bakeries and suspect if the position calls 4 an experianced barista, more experience might be needed than simply brewing and providing coffee.
