Why are people who get their coffee from STARBUCKS usually better looking than those who go to DUNKIN DONUTS?

Why does my family judge me because I drink Starbucks coffee?

  • I'm with my family today for Thanksgiving, and they were being really rude to me. After dinner, we were eating dessert and we were discussing how often we drink coffee. We're from Boston so most of us decide between Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks coffee. The rest of my family drink Dunkin Donuts coffee, I drink Starbucks. I've never been a coffee drinker, however I just started drinking coffee maybe a year ago (i'm now 23 years old). My brother says to me, "you don't drink coffee right?".. and I said, "yes, I started drinking coffee recently." They asked me, "what kind of coffee do you usually drink." I said, "I usually go to Starbucks." They all kinda got quiet for a second, and they said, OH.... Starbucks huh?? That's expensive! Who can afford to drink that? I know I can't. And they all ranted on for about 5 minutes straight bashing me calling me an elitist jerk all because I choose to go to starbucks over other coffee shops; I feel like it may be derived from some form of jealousy because I'm the only one in my family who went to college and I do make more money than the rest of my family, and I feel like me saying "I drink Starbucks" sparked an outburst of attacks toward me. I can't stand my family. I just want to get through the holidays and I'm going to just stay silent from now on though all of them!

Starbucks coffee sucks that's why they judge you. I'd rather drink anything else besides crap from Starbucks. The only good thing Starbucks has is Strawberries and Cream :)

I think that you really shouldn't care... I am sure that there are things that they spend their money on that you would consider unimportant, or elitist... don't worry about it.

Of all the stupid things a family can argue about, this has to be the stupidest. Here's a secret for you: Every year at this time, people who don't get together that often and really don't know each other anymore, spend an extended period of time in each other's company, and every year they're surprised that they don't enjoy themselves. It's funny if you think about it. Change your expectations. Expect to have a lousy time. You'll actually feel better. And really, if you can't stand up for your choice in coffee, what will you be able to stand up for? Be proud of your coffee choice! Don't make apologies.

Heh, Dunkin' Donuts vs. Starbucks is case study in my marketing text book, according to the book Dunkin' Donuts found that people who drink coffee at Starbucks and people who drink coffee at Dunkin' are like two different tribes that don't get each other, one side likes nice atmosphere, the other doesn't care, likes it simplistic and see no reason why would anyone want more than just coffee.
