Is 8 cups for a calorimeter too much?

Is drinking 8 cups of tea the same thing as drinking 8 cups of water a day?

  • i know your supposed to drink 8 cups of water a day. i can't drink plain water i kinda don't like it. so i went out and bought those lipton tea bags where they sit in the water. is drinking 8 cups of that a day the same thing to keep me healthy or should i just drink plain water.

I heard it must be plain water only, cos any substance at all in the water gives the kidneys extra work to do, instead of cleansing them. Plain water for me.

Tea isn't too healthy unless its decaffeinated. Green tea or white tea is better, white tea is the best, but has a very weak taste.

That would depend on the tea. If the tea is decaffeinated and you do not add anything, then it would be the same as drinking water. I have the same problem. I do not like water, therefore I add lemon juice, decaf tea, and lime juice, and my doctor told me that was fine to drink instead of water. She did say to at least drink one glass of plain water once a day though. So you should be fine. Make sure it is decaf tea...

you're like me i don't like straight water. but since i know that i have to drink it anyways, this is what i do, i fill up a glass with ice and a slice of lemon juice and i pour the water. i let it sit like for 5 minutes then i'll start drinking it while chewing on the ice also

Interesting question... I wasn't sure of the answer, so I did a little research on it (yay google!). You get your daily dose of water from many sources, including most foods (think iceberg lettuce, oranges, etc). Eating these foods isn't the same as drinking plain water and drinking tea isn't quite the same, either. But if you are more likely to get yourself to drink tea consistently than plain water, it's better to go ahead and drink the tea. (Something is better than nothing.) Decaf is probably better if you are going to drink a lot of it, but it takes a LOT of caffeine to have a negative health impact (and tea really doesn't have that much caffeine in it). drinking tea is fine, i mean you're still drinking it with water right but you know wht they say about too much of something is...right? tea carries caffeine too, so you may want to ease up on that a little bit. water cleanses the body so i still suggest yo drink some plain one.

Tea is hydrating you, but not as well as water. That's because tea is a diuretic. A diuretic makes your body eliminate water. Also, 8 cups of tea, unless it is caffeine free or decaffeinated, is very stimulating. After 8 cups, your family and friends may have to scrape you off the ceiling. If you can't drink plain water, consider caffeine free tea (make sure you choose a tea that does not have diuretic herbs). Note that green tea, despite its health values, is also high in caffeine. For additional water, buy flavored, but calorie-free, sparkling water. It goes down easily and will do the job of hydrating you appropriately.
