Alternatives to Energy Drinks?
-
I need some sources on healthy alternatives to energy drinks. I'm doing a persuassive speech on energy drinks, so if anyone knows any websites that I can use I would gladly accept some help :) I've already tried googling alternatives to energy drinks, and alternatives to caffeine, and all I've gotten is how "Cocaine" has been pulled off the market. I know there are alternatives, like water, nuts, and tea,but I need sources! Can anyone help please?

Gah! You're right. An initial search engine check gave me a bunch of cocaine responses. Look up "energy density." It explains why certain foods are better than others and can help with energy gain and weight loss without starving. Here's a good one: http://health.msn.com/dietfitness/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100159809 And when you compare the nutritional impact of the foods listed in that list to the information in this article about why energy drinks are bad (caffeine), I expect you'll come up with something good (i.e. why drink that when you could eat something so much better?).: http://www.brown.edu/Student_Services/Health_Services/Health_Education/atod/energydrinks.htm Also, you may want to consider why people drink energy drinks. Should they be eating something more filling, nutritional, and energy-sustaining instead of getting that short-term burst of energy from a drink only to find themselves deflated a few hours later? A famous fitness guru (name escapes me) said exactly that in a morning talk show. That could provide you with some compelling points of argument as well. Good luck!

A good way of alternate energy is through royal jelly supplements and snacks. Here's a good link. http://www.pureroyaljelly.com/

Green tea is very healthy. It has lots of antioxidants and gives you energy. Ginseng is also another natural and very effective energy supplement.

Don't know any web sites, but when I was compettitive swimming, between events we would drink hot green tea laced with lots of honey. It gives a great short term energy boost, has lot's of anti oxidents and was healthy too, Also, Honey is a natural anti biotic.

The best alternative is just plain old water. Bottled or from the tap, (if you have good water where you are). It's the fastest way to get oxygen to your cells.
