How to make a alkaline water machine?

How much water and coffee needed to make 1 shot of espresso using a home machine?

  • The instructions on my machine are very confusing. On the glass carafe, it has markings for 2 cups and 4 cups. But, making 2 cups is more than a shot, which is supposed to be 1-1.5 oz, right? The 2 cup mark is like 5 oz of liquid. Should I cut back on the water and coffee just to make 1 shot, even though there isn't any markings? I have a Mr. Coffee machine; I know, REALLY cheap, but it was a gift. Thanks in advance!

  • Answer:

So are you trying to make a single cappuchino, perhaps? I wouldn't try making a single cup of expresso with an inexpensive American machine, but it might work OK. Maybe this will help - A "shot" of expresso is about 1.7 fl oz - 50 ml. For a cappucino, you then add an equal amount of foam and milk. The result is 150 ml product which equal 5 U.S. fl oz. for American tastes, I would suggest you invite a friend, make "two cup" of expresso (5 oz of water), add the equal amounts of foam and milk, and then split it. You then each get a full measuring cup (actually about 7.5 oz) of cappucino each. Don C
