What's the point of decaffeinated coffee?

What is the point of decaffeinated coffee? (And is it coffee?)?

  • Last cup of decaf I had tasted like gasoline. Why bother? If you don't like caffeine why not find another hot drink?

  • Answer:

I totally agree. Decaf tastes like roadkill bathed in bellybutton juice. Yuck. It is real coffee but it's had a whole bunch of crazy chemicals poured all over it to extract the caffeine. Thus the taste. I think the only people who drink decaf are pregnant women...

Decaf coffee is like drinking diet sodas. It is intended to make you feel healthier while limiting your intake of a certain ingredient. The difference in taste is from the removal of certain chemical make up to reduce the natural caffeine.

I agree. It's like why don't they just go and drink a sprite or milk.
