What's the point of decaffeinated coffee?

How can low acid decaf coffee be made to taste good?

  • My mom has trouble with certain foods, and had to give up acidic coffee (wait, isn't coffee a base?); she also can't really handle caffeine. She mentioned that there's kind of no point in getting low acid, decaf coffee, but I'm pretty sure she loves the taste. Is there a way to make tasty coffee that's easy on the stomach and decaffeinated?

  • Answer:

First, buy quality decaf coffee; the cheap stuff is always harder to stomach. Next, cold brew the coffee http://www.ineedcoffee.com/06/cold-brewed/ Cold brewing reduces the caffeine levels even more, reduces the acid by about 30%, but still has about 90% of the flavor. It results in a concentrate that you store in the fridge. All you need to do is add hot water to taste or you can easily make a delicious iced coffee.
