  • I have a Package of dunkin donuts coffee and when I made a pot I put in the same amount I always would ( 3 1/8 cup scoops) and it came out tasting like water how much of this coffee do I need to use

    I use 3 heaping Tablespoon to a 12 cup pot of water. If you don't fill the water to the same line everytime that will make a difference. Also if not stored in an airtight container it will lose it's flavor and great smell.

I can tell how large 3-1/8 cup scoops is. The standard measurement for making coffee is 2 tablespoons (level)(7 grams) for each 6 oz cup of water. 6oz is the standard measure of a tea-cup, though coffee cups or mugs are usually much larger. So to start, use a measuring cup for the water, and a measuring spoon to know the "recipe" is correct. If the coffee-maker has made good coffee before lets assume the temperature is correct. This leaves the possibility the grounds are much too coarse. This is not typical if you buy pre-ground coffee; but if you ground it with the in-store machine someone could have set the machine for coarse grind and you not noticed.
