How to make coffee drinks?

How to make hot drinks (tea, coffee, etc) like in restaurants?

  • Tea from DD or coffee from Starbucks are always much tastier than what I make at home. What do they add in their hot drinks, which brands do they use, do you know such details of the tastiness of their drinks?

  • Answer:

    1) make sure your coffee maker is very clean. use vinegar in it. run it through once and then run water through it about 3 times or so afterwards. the water should run out clear. 2) use filtered water. like spring or distilled. 3) It doesnt matter what coffee you use. Make it strong. The way i make mine is about 5-7 scoops depending on my mood. and that is for a 10 cup coffee pot. :D 4) A trick that most people dont tell you....if you are making coffee and it seems to taste bitter...add a very small pinch of salt. VERY TINY PINCH. Believe it or not it will actually take the bitterness out. I hope that helps you! :)

Use RO filtered water. The chloramine (and god knows what else) in tap water always sets flavors off. Also, use unbleached filters for the coffee, if you use a drip machine. Switch to a french press or espresso machine if possible. Brands are generally not too big an issue. Most restaurants use Folgers or Sysco brand. But higher quality leaves/beans generally translates to a higher quality product if you treat it right. Tea: I prefer Zhi tea brands. They are excellent. Use a diffuser, if possible.

You can go on sites like ebay and kijiji or go to shops like homesence and costco and bye a Gourmet coffee machine for only like 20-30 dollars Starbucks and tim Horten's use Professional Quality coffee machines so its pretty much impossible to beat them I suggest just going to a shop that sells coffee every morning if you don't like homemade coffee. Also MacDonald's is supposed to have the best coffee out of all of the coffee selling restaurants And don't forget that al the coffee shops have people that have been making coffee for YEARS on end. Some restaurants sell flavored coffee such as maple and pine. I think you should ether bye a Gourmet coffee machine of just go to a coffee selling restaurant. (the Professional quality coffee machines cost 100 dollars)
