Why are people who get their coffee from STARBUCKS usually better looking than those who go to DUNKIN DONUTS?
-
Is it something in the coffee? For a case study for my marketing class, I spent 2 hours in a dunkin donuts, and 2 hours in a starbucks in boston. here are my results: 43/61 people who got something from dunkin donuts were obese and 37 of those 43 people clearly did not put any effort into their appearance. Surpriningly, many of them wore sport shirts that say something like "go patriots" or "go red sox"... i didn't expect that. 64/79 people who got something from starbucks was in very healthy shape, put a great deal of pride in their appearance. Most of the men who got coffee there were "metro-sexual" type, as compared to the men at dunkin were more of the type of guy you would expect to see chugging beer at a party. what is the reason for this difference? I can't figure it out... though I need to figure out some kind of answer for my case study, and my tallys came out to be pretty asonishing statistics so I just need to put a "why" factor behind it. Any ideas to help me with my case study will be greatly appreciated! thanks! 10 pts to person with best answer :D

People who spend $4.00 for a cup of coffee are more likely to take care of themselves than people who get a buck cup of coffee and a greasy egg sandwich for less than the same amount. Starbucks are in more upscale areas and are not spontaneous drive in spots. It would be difficult to get a pick-up truck into a Starbucks! Check their addresses to see if my prediction holds up.
First off, the question is a stereotype. Secondly, obese people aren't bad-looking. That's also a stereotype. Assuming someone is ugly because they're obese, or beautiful because they're muscular/curvy, is once again stereotypical. No offense, but this question is damn rude.

I agree with Gir!! We all have our different definitions of a ''good-looking'' person. What your really doing it stereotyping an obese man to be the '' type of guy you would expect to see chugging beer at a party.'' And besides, maybe Dunkin Donuts appeals to a specific audience. If I were you, I would think about people before judging them.

Starbucks is not so much a place to go to get a cup of coffee as it is a place to get seen. People with money like to think that just because they spend 8 dollars on coffee it is the best, it's a fashion statement, just like owning a BMW. But also it is the food. Starbucks, while they don't have super healthy foods, have better nutritionally sound choices then 800 calorie donuts. Then on a more personal level, you have to think about how you judge people. Most Americans would consider "Go Sox" to be perfectly normal, not so low brow as you indicate. Then the looks, who can say just with their own eye who is attractive or not. Obese is one thing but to say someone didn't are for their appearance is a bit harsh. Some people may just not see the point to conform to the "everyone has to be a supermodel" fad that we are in. Smart people go to Dunkin because the coffee is good and they can satisfy their sweet tooth without being judged by thecorporatee exec next to them wasting money on cheap coffee that they get from Starbucks.

hmmm i wonder... maybe ITS THE FATTY doughnuts. people who go to starbucks usually go for a quick drink before breakfast- and sre slimmer because they care more about appearance and weight im not saying everyone is like that but people who go to dunkin donuts go for the fatty doughnuts and coffee because does starbucks sell that kkind of stuff? no. at least i dont think so... im not a coffee drinker
People who drink at Starbucks are more concerned with holding a "Starbucks" cup and the image status that holds. People who frequent a Dunkin doughnuts are not as concerned with image as much as value and more food for the buck. Unfortunately both study groups are missing the real coffee drinking experience and are compromising on taste over convenience. Find a local owned coffee shop that prides itself on good tasting coffee and let us know how that study goes. I would do it, but I get too distracted by the coffee...
