Another Fake Family Cook Out, What should I do?

What can i cook for my family?

  • My family are away and i'm going to cook a meal for when they get back. It needs to be quite simple, and be prepared before hand ready to eat when everyone is ready, so something like tuna steak wouldn't be good because it needs to be timed right, and eaten quickly. Something like a pie, casserole, curry or something like that. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Answer:

What about pot pie? It's super easy. You just pre-cook the chicken in little bite-sized pieces, dump it into the bottom of a pan (I use a glass cake pan) mix and pour cream of mushroom soup over the chicken. spread a couple cans or frozen veggies over that. Bake for maybe 20 minutes then add Bisquick biscuits to the top and bake for another 10-15 minutes. It's really good, my family loves it.

I would use a crock pot and prepare a roast with carrots and potatoes. It's easy and delicious.

Happy Mother of 2!

I agree, the crock pot will keep everything nice and hot and you can leave it on even when you leave the house. You can make chicken thighs in there, a stew, a soup, any kind of chicken or pot roast.

Baked Lasagna. Here is the recipe, though if you don't have time to make it from scratch, you can also go to the store and by the Stouffer's frozen baked lasagna. It doesn't taste as good, but it's OK in a pinch. Float the 1 Tbsp. of oil on the surface of the water. Bring to a boil slowly add the lasagna noodles, a few at a time, & cook 15 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water. Meanwhile, brown the ground beef & sausages in a large skillet. Remove from the pan & pour the drippings away. Add the olive oil to the skillet & sauté the onion & garlic over low heat for 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes, broken up with a fork, the tomato paste, tomato sauce & seasonings. Stir well & add the meat to the sauce. Cook over low heat for 40 minutes or until thick.
