How to make Turkey with pear-cardamom puree and caramel almonds?

Can I make ground almonds and hazelnuts from store bought pre-toasted hazelnuts ans almonds?

  • I have a cake recipe that calls for both ground hazelnuts and almonds, I already have both those nuts on hand, just whole in a bag, pretoasted and unsalted. Can I put the whole almonds and hazelnuts in my food processor with a milling attachment? Or will it be pasty? I know its an odd question but thanks for any help

  • Answer:

Best bet is to pour some into a ziploc bag and get out the rolling pin, putting them into a blender or mixer of any kind will turn them to mush, but by rolling the pin over them you'll get more of what the recipe calls for. Though buying them predone is best, but if you can save yourself a few bucks it's worth it.

I grind my nuts all the time with just the regular blade on my food processor. But, you have to pulse it slowly because it can turn into more of a floury texture very easily and then a paste. They chop up very quickly so be careful.

Megs

Yup. Toast them first, then blender.
