How to make hamburgers?

How to make less greasy hamburgers?

  • Whenever I make hamburgers I usually shape them by hand, and put them in a pan to cook. I dont add oil, or anything else. Just cow and pan. Thing is though, by the time they're done cooking they're always just dripping with grease, and it really does bad things for an apitite....health too no doubt. How can I make my burgers a little less greasy. As in- NOT a pool of oil in the bottom of the pan under the food. Turn down the heat? Use differant meat? What's the secret here.

  • Answer:

    1) Use a leaner grade of meat. You'll pay more for it per pound of course. 2) Press down on the burger from time to time in the pan to squeeze out the excess fat and then keep draining off the grease as you cook into a "grease can". 3) Place your cooked burgers between layers of paper towels and press down to squeeze out and soak up any excess grease before putting them in buns.

Buy better burger. The more fat the more grease you will have. But remember, the less fat the drier the burger.

For indoor cooking the Foreman Grill is about the best way to go. The grease runs down into the drip tray. Outdoor grilling is good also and you get more flavorful burgers from the smoke. You can also make a smoke packet with wood chips of your choice soaked in water and wrapped in foil with a bunch of holes punched in it when cooking on an outdoor grill.

Your probably using a high fat meat. Whe i do my catering I usually use 85% lean and 15% fat. It has enough fat to give it alot of nice flavor without all the grease. If thats still too much for you just use a ground beef with a lower fat content. Hope that helped. Just to add I wonld not use any of the 95% or 97% fat free meat. Your hamburgers will come out very dry and then you'll be posting a question about how to make your hamburgers more juicy lol :) Goodluck!

When you go to the store...buy the hamburger that has the lowest fat content....such as I but 93% fat free.....this is the best meat to use...it should say right on the wrapper.....it is usually more expensive but it takes so much better.....

hey there. I use extra lean ground beef, or lean ground sirlon. Or, you can always get a George Foreman mini indoor grill. They are built on a slant so all the grease slides down into the grease tray. Voila!

Use a leaner meat, whether it be leaner cow, or use ground turkey instead. Also grilling them instead of pan cooking them helps big time!

Use minced sirloin. No grease.

Use a lower fat ground beef like 90/10 or buffalo burger if you can get a hold of it. Also trying adding an egg and a little bit of bread crumbs. Also, make an indent in the middle of the patty with your thumb, this will also help for even cooking
