How To Use The Steamer?

How to use a 3-layered steamer?

  • Okay, I got this steamer and when I opened the box, guess wat i found next to it? Here's a hint; IT WAS NOT INSTRUCTIONS! Im hungry and want to steam some dumplings. Somebody help me! And fast! I WANT MY DUMPLINGS!

  • Answer:

Ok, so here's the deal. Fill the bottom layer with about 2-3 inches of hot tap water. Set it on the stove and put the heat on high. Add the other layers of the steamer with your dumplings spread out. NOTE: To avoid them sticking to the steamer, you might want to put thin slices of carrots beneath them. Yeah, seriously...or lettuce/cabbage leaves. If not, put them on a plate first that's sliglty oiled. Cover everything with the steamer lid. When the water comes to a boil at the bottom, the steam will start to rise. Turn the heat down just a little. HINT: Take your tea kettle/small pot and boil up about 3 C. of water then leave it sitting once it's boiled. The reason is because, depending on how long you are steaming something, the water will evaporate eventually. You never want the water to evaporate completely. So, you might have to add more water. Add only boiling water only because you don't want cold water to stop the steaming process. Enjoy your steamer & your dumplings.
