How can I cook a fried chicken with batter, but pan fry the chicken?

  • Answer:

My Goodness Finger Lickin' Chicken Makes 4-6 servings(depending on who comes to dinner) 4 tablespoons whole-wheat flour 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper 1/4 teaspoon paprika 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste 1/8-1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/2 cup beer 1 whole chicken cut up 6 teaspoons canola oil, divided 1. Combine whole-wheat flour, all-purpose flour, black pepper, paprika, salt and cayenne in a medium bowl. Whisk in beer to create a batter. 2. Coat half the chicken pieces in the batter. Heat 3 teaspoons oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Letting excess batter drip back into the bowl, add the chicken to the pan; cook until crispy and golden, 2 to 4 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate and loosely cover with foil. Coat the remaining chicken with batter and cook in the remaining 3 teaspoons oil; adjust heat as necessary for even browning. Serve immediately. Eat with a good quality hot sauce.

Oh, man, Olan....I'm all-in with your return to Momma's home cooking. My Mother used a basic flour/salt/water/pepper/cornmeal/egg batter, and fried it in a cast iron dutch oven on the top of the stove. When the heck is supper time, Bro???

I really don't think you can make a battered dish in a pan, sorry. But an alternative is to give it a crust, First dip in flour, Then dip it in a beaten egg, and finally coat it in breadcrumbs. Then you can pan fry in shallow oil. Hope this helps.

cook it in a pan w/about 1/2" of oil and cook each side about 10 min. med/high heat. call me when its ready it sounds good. for the batter: 2 c floor 2tbsp baking powder 1 tbsp each blk pepper cayenne pepper season salt garlic powd onion powd peperika salt you can change for your taste and instead of the flour and baking powd you can use bisquick, or jiffy biscuit mix and you can add a little corn meal if you like. in a seperate bowl put 2 eggs and a little milk and hot sauce dip chicken in the egg mix then the flour, back in the egg, then the flour again. let the chicken rest in the frig about 1/2 hr so the batter sticks good. I hope this was helpful If you don't want to pan cook it you could put it in the oven 350f about 45 min internal temp 160f, but that won't taste like your ma's it will be kinda' dry. olan black that guy padriag is in ireland what does he know about fried chicken. I'm a hillbilly so you know I grew up on that also. let me know if this was helpful

My fried chicken simple but gooood . in paper bag ; flour, salt ,pepper, garlic rinse chicken and toss in bag 1 piece at a time place in iron skillet fry till golden brown , reserve drippings for gravy . for something a little different I place the cooked chicken in a roaster with a small amount of water about 1/4 inch cover and place in 350 oven for 45 minutes. there 2 different ways to have your chicken now don't forget the homemade bread with butter . but for me tonight is fried fish. love them both.
