How can David Copperfield fly?

Could someone please tell me how on earth david copperfield flies?! I'm going bananas here!!!!!!!! Sally?

  • Answer:

Its wires. It even looks like wires most of time he is doing it. The rings and the box provide the misdirection. Watch it several times and you will see on the first set of rings, they move them right up to the midpoint (where the wires are) and then they spin both of them UNDER his body and right up to where there are on the same spots on opposite sides. Same thing with the second set only from a different angle. The box is the same type of thing. They put the top between the two wires, turn it and sit it down on the top of the box but spreading the wires. The box lid covers left to right completely but is just small enough front to back to allow the wires to pass through. I almost feel bad typing this. To young kids, that is magic. Who am I to tell them any different.

Trust me, it's wires, but it also involves mirors and alot of misdirection. But it is wires, it's not magic.

I believe is all done with invisible wires that strap a body jacket around his body. The jacket is part of the trick and sustains his body and produces the movements.
