What kind of guitar/amp should I get?

  • I'd really like to have an Epiphone or Gibson Les Paul or SG... I'm not really sure. And the problem is I pretty much have to order it online, without actually playing it. The price range I'm looking for, don't laugh, is anything under $1,500 for both the guitar and the amp. Any suggestions on what kind of guitar I could get. Right now I have a knock-off of a Stratocaster and a Peavey Amp that you can't even find online (called Decade I think), and I'd like to have an amp that has some nice distortion/gain and drive. I like the skinny neck guitars with the strings relatively close to the fretboard. I'm looking to play rock/metal/punk/alternative rock music, and also, I've only been playing about 2 years, so should I keep the guitar I have for now, buy a cheaper version (like an Epiphone or Squier)? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    well theres a cheap Epiphone for around $300 + i think a 50 watt amp included, those are sold in Guitar Center but i know the store near my house in nj sells this custom Les Paul pretty cheap also the same store sold my friend a 100 watt marshal half stack with cab for less than 1,000 brand new!
