An idea for cosplay costume?

I would love to cosplay... but I'm not sure how?

• Ok, so I'm 12 years old and a HUGE anime fan. I would absolutly LOVE to go to an event where I can cosplay or something. But there are several problems. 1. I don't know how to let my mom know. My mom barely knows how much I like it, and deffinitly doesn't realize how much I would like to cosplay. 2. I have no one to cosplay with. I have tried to get my best friend into anime by lending her a manga that I like, but she never got past the first 10 pages. 3. I CAN'T SEW FOR CRAP. I wouldn't even know where to start, and I don't want to buy a costume online since they can get so expensive. 4. I don't know where to go. Really. I have no idea where I would go to cosplay or really do ANYTHING of the sort. That's about it... I appreciate any help, and thanks for listening

  mmmmm...well.you are 12 so you are realy young,you have all the time you want to learn how to sew :) however,i suggest you to go to the site cosplay.com and register.even if you are not a cosplayer you can talk with the people who cosplay and get a little help. 1) tell your mom that you really would like to cosplay.there is nothing bad about it.i mean,smocking is bad,assuming drug is bad,cosplaying isn't bad at all XD 2)cosplaying with friends is certainly more fun,but you can cosplay alone.when i cosplayed i did it alone and maybe it is even better,because you can choose the character you like most 3)you can learn how to sew,or find a costume conline which does not cost much or find a character who is dressed in a quite normal way so you can reuse the things you buy 4)on cosplay.com if you register,than you can go on the calendar and see where you can go
