How do I obtain modeling and acting permits for a child in NY state?

  • Are there any parents of the child actors / models out there? I would love to know what the exact process of obtaining both modeling and acting work permits for a child in NY state (I do realize that there might be slight differences in a process from state to state. I need it in NY). Who do I contact to request it? Does it involve Labor Department? How long does it take to get one? How complicated the whole process is? Please share your knowledge and experience!

    If your child is signed with an agency in NY, they will sort out the permits for you. If they don't, find another agency. It should be part of their standard contract.
