Magazine subscription problem?

I accidentally subscribed to Cosmopolitan Magazine maybe?

  • I'm not even sure how it happened, but I got a bill from Cosmopolitan Magazine saying that I had subscribed to their magazine, and I had to pay up. I think it may have happened when I signed up to get one free issue of the magazine, but now they're demanding $15 for a subscription for the whole year! I'm not even at the age where I can get a subscription without an adult (I'm 14)! I tried emailing them at the address they used to bill me (I figured that wouldn't work but it was worth a try), and they didn't respond. I then went on the website and tried to see if I could just cancel my subscription. It turns out that you can, but there's no refund on the subscription. Is there any way at all to contact them and let them know about my problem or unsubscribe without paying money?! Please let me know ASAP, because I have no idea what to do! I know I should tell my parents, but I just got the email recently so I figured this was worth a shot. Thanks so much for your help!

    On the Cosmopolitan website, it says: "If you have a subscription enquiry, please go to www.magshop.com.au " I just went to that site, and there's a phone number there for the help desk in the 'Contact Us' section. Hope that helps :)

I have heard of these lovely sales tactics where you can select "Bill me later" - is that what you did? They are incredibly cheeky, just instruct your bank not to pay them and write them an email saying you do not want a subscription and that it was a mistake.
