What are all the jobs you can have at a magazine company?

  • i want to get a job with a magazine company but what kind of levels and types are there? and what kind of schooling would i need?

  • Answer:

Working for a magazine can actually consist of a variety of different jobs. Firstly you have the obvious writers, then picture researchers/photographers, advertising/PR and design/layout. In each of these categories there will usually be an editor who runs that team of people, and finally you have the top of the ladder editor and editorial assistant. Schooling all depends what area you would like to go into. In some cases, such as mine, you can take journalism degrees that cover most of these areas so that you get a good idea of the market and can make a clear decision about where it is you want to end up. But if you're sure of a certain area, then doing a degree or course in that chosen area, as well as gaining work experience/a portfolio of work would be a great help to achieving your goals. Good luck!

Other answers

You will need english- creative writing and normal english...it also may be helpful to take a journalism course if your school offers one. And ask your co-up office to help you get an intern into a magazine. Then your boss will decide if (s)he wants to offer you a job there.
