What are some cool preteen magazines for girls?

Why do magazines aimed at teen girls portray teen stars as living G-rated lives, when in fact?

• ... many of those teen stars are sexually active just like their same-age peers? Do the magazines actually believe that the girls reading the magazines are naive enough to think that those 16 and 17 yr old boy and girl stars are all shy virgins who think a kiss is a big deal? I mean, honestly, in this day and age? Or it is fear of backlash from parents that drives these magazines to represent teen stars as sexually abstinent? I remember a magazine called "Sassy" that got run out of business by the so-called "Moral Majority" because it discussed teen sex, pregnancy, birth control, etc. and was aimed at teen girls. Is this why the magazines seem to be so dumb-downed?
