Ideas for School Magazine?

I have to fill out an application to be apart of the school magazine, (which I reaaallly want to be apart of) and i have to give them a sample of my work. But I am more of a dark, messed up kinda of writer, I get deep down emotions and let them out that way, so I need help choosing something to write about (that isn't dark) for sample work. Help?? Please & Thank you !(:

Since you mentioned you're a writer, I'm assuming you also like to read books. How about doing an article about advocating fictional or non-fictional novels that promotes educational purposes or just life in general? By this matter, you're able to share your own personal thoughts and opinions based on your favorite novels. Basically a book review section. I'm sure your school administrators would appreciate that idea! Good luck! ;)
